Teammates Melissa Garcia Villa, Marketing and Communications Director and Jonathan Lane, Health Span Advisor were proud to represent BLU at the Tower Forum: Rethinking Public Benefits and Economic Mobility, an impactful breakfast discussion focused on addressing one of the most complex challenges facing working families today.
The morning forum brought together influential business, nonprofit, and civic leaders to explore what happens when individuals earn modest increases in income, only to lose access to critical public benefits that support housing, childcare, healthcare, and food security. This phenomenon, known as the benefits cliff, often discourages upward mobility and creates unintended barriers to long-term economic stability.
The discussion was moderated by Bob Swindell, President & CEO of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance, who guided a thoughtful and solutions-oriented dialogue among a distinguished panel of regional leaders:
Together, the panel examined how public policy, workforce development, and community partnerships can evolve to better support individuals striving for economic independence, without penalizing progress.
At BLU by ThriveWellTM, we believe that health and wellness extend beyond clinical care. Economic stability, access to resources, and community-centered systems play a vital role in long-term wellbeing and preventive health outcomes.
Attendance at this Tower Forum event reflects BLU’s ongoing commitment to:
As an organization rooted in integrative and preventive care, BLU recognizes that meaningful health outcomes are deeply connected to the social and economic conditions in which people live and work.
-We look forward to continuing to engage in forums and partnerships that strengthen the health, stability, and future of our community.
