Why do certain exercises work better than others? How many sets and reps should you be doing? And when time is limited, how do you make sure your workout still counts?
BLU Members explored these questions during The Theory Behind Smarter Training, an interactive workshop led by BLU -Certified Personal Trainer Shane Hofman.
Rather than simply focusing on what exercises to perform, Shane took Members behind the thinking that goes into effective training. The session explored how factors such as exercise selection, sets and repetitions, intensity, recovery, and progression work together to create a more purposeful workout.
One of the key takeaways was that more isn’t always better. Effective training is about understanding what you are trying to accomplish and structuring your workout accordingly. Whether the goal is building strength, improving overall fitness, or simply making better use of limited time, having a plan can make each session more intentional.
Shane also shared practical strategies Members could immediately apply to their own routines, helping them better understand how to prioritize movements, adjust their training, and continue progressing over time.
The intimate workshop format gave Members an opportunity to ask questions, discuss their own training experiences, and gain a better understanding of the principles behind the work they do in the Performance Zone.
Because when you understand the why behind your workout, you can approach every session with greater purpose—and train smarter, not simply harder.
