Florida Legislature in Review

As part of that commitment, Melissa Garcia Villa, BLU's Marketing and Communications Director, and Margo Peters, BLU's Corporate Partnerships Manager, recently attended Behind the Session: Florida Legislature in Review, hosted by The Tower Forum.

The event brought together respected leaders from Florida's legislative community to provide valuable insight into the outcomes of the 2026 legislative session and discuss the issues impacting residents, businesses, healthcare organizations, and communities throughout the state.

The program was sponsored by NSU Florida, with Florida Atlantic University serving as the Presenting Member. Attendees had the opportunity to hear directly from an esteemed panel of public servants and policymakers, including:

• Ellyn Bogdanoff, Becker & Poliakoff and Former Florida State Senator (Moderator)
• Christine Hunschofsky, Florida House of Representatives, District 95
• Barbara Sharief, Florida State Senate, District 35
• Hillary Cassel, Florida House of Representatives, District 101

Throughout the discussion, panelists shared their perspectives on key legislative priorities, policy developments, and the challenges and opportunities facing Florida as the state continues to experience rapid growth. Topics included economic development, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and initiatives designed to support the long-term success of Florida's communities.
