BLU by ThriveWell believes thriving communities create healthier, longer lives. That’s why Marketing Director Melissa Garcia Villa attended the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce’s BIZ in BRIEF event featuring Maggie Gunther, Chief Economic Development Officer for the City of Fort Lauderdale.
During the presentation, Gunther highlighted the remarkable strength of South Florida’s economy. The region is home to approximately 6.47 million residents, supported by a labor force of 3.3 million, and generates an impressive $575 billion in GDP. In fact, if South Florida were its own country, it would rank as the 26th largest economy in the world, larger than the economies of the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and Israel.
Closer to home, Broward County’s economy continues to thrive, generating $173.7 billion in GDP, surpassing the economic output of more than 15 U.S. states. These figures reinforce Fort Lauderdale’s position as a key driver of business growth, innovation, and investment in South Florida.
The event provided valuable insights into the city’s strategic priorities, economic development initiatives, and opportunities for businesses to benefit from the region’s continued expansion. It also offered an excellent opportunity to connect with fellow business leaders and strengthen relationships within the local business community.
BLU by ThriveWell remains committed to staying engaged with organizations and leaders shaping the future of our community while identifying opportunities to support healthier, longer lives for South Florida residents.
