On Friday October 3rd, BLU by ThriveWell™ was honored to participate in the Holy Cross Health Foundation’s Women’s Wellness Brunch, a vibrant morning of connection, conversation, and community at the Coral Ridge Yacht Club. Surrounded by accomplished women from across South Florida, the event celebrated a shared commitment to advancing women’s health, purpose, and leadership.
Our Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Jessica Chen, was invited to speak and delivered an empowering message on what it truly means to age with vitality.
“As women, we’ve so often cared for others first, today is about caring for ourselves, too,” she began. Dr. Chen then went on to introduce the audience to a science-backed roadmap for living not just longer, but better: the 5 Vitality Measures, biometrics that best predict how well and how long we live.
“Did you know that while the average lifespan in the U.S. is 78 years, the average health span, the years we live free of chronic disease, is only 66? That’s 12 years spent managing illness. At BLU, our mission is to change that.”
These are the five key measures she highlighted:
VO₂ Max – “Your body’s ability to use oxygen efficiently. It’s one of the strongest predictors of longevity—and the exciting part is, it’s trainable.”
Lean Muscle Mass – “Muscle is your organ of longevity. It protects your metabolism, your bones, and your independence as you age.”
Visceral Fat & Body Fat % – “This hidden fat around your organs is a major driver of heart disease, the #1 killer of women. But the good news? It’s measurable and modifiable.”
Balance & Mobility – “This is what keeps us independent. Strong, stable movement reduces fall risk and supports graceful aging.”
Grip Strength – “It may seem simple, but grip strength is one of the strongest indicators of your overall health and resilience.”
The powerful speech was around The 3x5 Approach: Longevity Rooted in Wellness Culture
At BLU by ThriveWell™, health isn’t just physical, it’s holistic. The approach is grounded in our 5 Drivers of Health and Wellness©: Personal, Community, Physical, Nutritional, and Spiritual.
“These drivers, when supported by data from the 5 Vitality Measures, create a clear path to extending not just lifespan, but healthspan.” Dr Chen stated.
A Space Built for Women’s Wellness
